Services
Messaging & integration
The core service provided by the SCD hub is the setting up, testing and maintenance of EDI messages between two business partners. The vast majority of messages such as Customer Orders, Transport Orders, Daily Stock Reports, Advanced Shipment Notes (ASNs) etc. that logistics and supply chain partners would wish to exchange are available on a fixed fee, fixed timescale basis.
For complex, bespoke integration to suit a particular business need SCD will first work with the client on business process specification and design before the message mapping process begins.
Translation Services
Most business systems (such as ERP, WMS and TMS systems) will have a preferred format, or standard, for incoming or outgoing messages. When connecting to a business partner via SCD there is no need to pay to change your system’s preferred message type as all the conversion is done at the hub. These translation services enable the hub to send out the same message from your system to several different partners, each in the format that they require for their business systems. For smaller or temporary suppliers the hub can translate the message into a CSV or even a PDF file and automatically attach it to an email and send it to the supplier. Similarly the hub can receive a variety of messages from your trading partners. This will include data from spreadsheets and even text messages which can be translated into a message your system can accept.
Look-ups
Where translation services alter a message’s format, look-up services populate or convert the content of a message. Content data is often different in different systems: for example, delivery locations, load numbers and reason codes. Trying to ensure that all systems have the same data standards or reason codes is unrealistic. However SCD’s hub solution can use look-up tables to translate between your system requirements and those of your supply chain partners.
