“Supply Chain Design building interfaces quickly and affordably across a range of sectors.”
Sectors
Warehousing
Warehousing operations have been using EDI for data exchange between business partners for many years. For dedicated, long term operations this has normally been via one-to-one interfaces. The challenge for this sector, however, is to roll out this connectivity fully to the shared user and buffer or seasonal operations.
For 3PLs in these markets being able to build interfaces quickly and affordably delivers competitive edge and provides their customers with visibility and enhanced stock control. SCD’s hub solution provides a major UK 3PL with rapid connectivity for each new customer for a fixed fee and timescale independent of the business systems being connected to.
Transport
Unlike warehousing, EDI exchange of business documents is relatively new in the transport sector, although the transmission of Transport Orders is now well established. As Transport Management Systems (TMS) become more sophisticated and better able to receive and export data automatically via an interface the opportunity to exchange documents such as Load Plans, Despatch Advice and Proof of Delivery (POD) increases.
SCD is committed to working with TMS providers to eliminate re-keying into customer systems and portals wherever possible.
